Léon Gommans is the founder of PortLab and the organizer of the World Port Hackathon. PortLab is an initiative from multiple stakeholders and the ports of Rotterdam and Singapore, which strives to stimulate collaboration and development of innovative solutions for supply chain management and the port sector in specific. Blockchain technology is an important component of new technologies that disrupt logistics at the moment.

The 4th Annual World Port Hackathon took place last September. More than 100 participants were developing new solutions to existing problems the ports of Rotterdam and Singapore face. The winning team developed a blockchain application for customs.

As Founder of SonicBids (Boston, MA), Panos is widely credited for spotting and capitalizing early on three distinct emerging trends in the music business over the last decade: the shift to a primarily online means of marketing; the emergence of an “artistic middle class”; and the shift from a record-label funded industry to a consumer /brand-funded music business. After selling SonicBids in 2013, Panos joined his alma mater Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) to found the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship (BerkleeICE) which has a mission of fostering the entrepreneurial mindset of the Berklee community and preparing students for careers in music. This Summer, Panos co-founded the non-profit Open Music Initiative, in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab, a number of other individuals including inventor Dan Harple and IDEO partner Michael Hendrix, as well as various music industry entities.
